LIMUN 2020: Season Finale, Home Run

Between the 21st and 23rd of February, #TeamLSE made the long and treacherous journey to the London International Model United Nations Conference. While home comforts may have played their role (this year’s #TeamLSE ManMUN delegation would certainly say so), our success was undoubtedly down to the hard work of all delegates – which certainly paid off, with a truly outstanding awards list, and the conservation of our Best Small Delegation award.

Successful Return to and from the North

Between the 29th of November and the 1st of December, #TeamLSE took the more scenic bus route to Nottingham for NottsMUN 2019. Arriving in the city centre (alongside our friends from across the Strand), we had a quick turnaround before registration, so explored the local culture and visited the very memorable ‘Amazing Thai Café’, which certainly lived up to its name with noodles for the shocking price of £2.50.

WorldMUN 2019 Madrid: Where Worlds Meet and Cultures Unite

Madrid. 2019. Harvard WorldMUN. 21 brave LSE students threw themselves unto the breach once more, and valiantly battled adversaries originating from anywhere between South America and across the street. With 18 delegates and three chairs, #TeamLSE touched down in Madrid and - in what could only be described as the classic SloMo Bad-Boys-style walk - left the airport to claim Spain's capital for queen and (adopted) country. Sunday, the first full day in Madrid, was spent exploring.

Even the Secretary-General of LIMUN, Charis Yeap was none other than a proud LSE alumni.

ManMUN 2018: Successful Conquest of the Great North

From the 19th to the 21st of October, #TeamLSE set off to “the great North” to attend the University of Manchester’s Model United Nation conference.

For myself and many other members of our delegation, this was our first overnight MUN University conference and not knowing what to expect; the conference seemed daunting at first. However, we quickly got into the swing of things, leading lobbying and debate in committees. It is safe to say that the conference was a resounding success with team LSE sweeping Best Large Delegation and 12 individual awards.

ScotMUN X

From the 3rd to the 5th of March, Team LSE travelled to Edinburgh to participate in the tenth edition of ScotMUN. With an exciting range of committees like the World Food Programme, the European Council, and the International Organisation for Migration, delegates debated actively on issues ranging from the Allegations of Ethnic Cleansing in Myanmar to Women in Conflict Countries. Looking back on LIMUN '17

"What is LIMUN? Do you mean Lemon? Lime? Is it a food fair?"-- LIMUN is a conference like no other, unparalleled not only in terms of the amount of jokes it invokes, but also in the perpetual significance of it being held in home territory, our beloved London.

Joining a conference at home means that everything is much closer-- the conference venue, socials, and our own homes-- just a tube (or uber) ride away. LSE delegates rejoice in being able to commute easily, though it'd be too naive to think that all of us could turn up on time to attend our 9am committee sessions (cough cough).

EireMUN 2017: When the Going gets Tough, the Tough get Going

During the initiation of the year of the rooster, Team LSE crossed St George’s Channel to partake in the 3rd Edition of Ireland Model United Nations (ÉireMUN), hosted by the International Relations Society of University College Cork. Set in the “rebel city” of Cork, renowned for its Georgian architecture, vibrant art galleries, and Jewish literary community, we compressed numerous unforgettable experiences into four short but intense days of committee sessions, drinking, and singing in the rain. In a combined effort, 15 delegates epitomized leadership, negotiation, and collaboration, collectively winning “Best Delegation”.

ManMUN 2016: A Retrospective

Chiming in to a potpourri of Herman’s Hermits, The Stone Roses, and Oasis, Team LSE set sail for the rainy skies of Manchester on October 28th. We bade farewell to the Theatre of Dreams and returned to Houghton Street only two nights later, carrying excess luggage both in the palpable form of 7 accolades, including the “Best Large Delegation” award, as well as in the intangible form of numerous lasting memories. Both these forms will hopefully remain unforgotten for those who were privileged enough to being able to experience them.

Whole Day Training Session

Team LSE partook in an interactive and competitive session in our whole day training simulation, comprehensively setting the mood for our upcoming Michaelmas season. Highlighted by our Training Officer, condemning western capitalism and MUN Officer Mock Yi Jun’s “You can’t ask a fish to climb a tree” rebuttal speech, this 6-hour training marathon was demanding, enthralling, and, above all, heuristic.
